range cooker height

Options
Hi, my kitchen installation has just been completed. Everything is fine accept this one issue with the range cooker height. My range cooker is a all GAS version.

I went for the omega 60mm worktop and so the range cooker finishes 20mm lower then the worktop. If it was a 40 mm worktop it would have finished level.

We`ve adjusted the cooker to its maximum height on its legs and so cannot increase it any further.

Im concerened with damaging the worktop on its edge etc as the cooker sits at a lower level.

any ideas how i can increase it further by 25mm?

the range has legs whereas the units have a plinth.

regards

mohammad

  • Hi,

We didn't design our current kitchen - we have a range cooker with worktops at either side.

We found that there were 2 offcuts of wood under the cooker which elevated it to the right level... not the most desirable finish I know however you would be able to at least use the hob without fear of damaging the worktop until you come up with a permenant solution.

There are also 2 metal edging strips on the ends of the worktop that are adjacent to the cooker - I don't know if these are a standard thing or not  a good idea all the same.

I will keep an eye on this thread and see if there is yet another job that we can finish off properly with this house!!!

thanks for reply, ive tried to find the metal edging for the worktop but i cant find one thats is in 60mm. the worktop supplier were no use, they just said use the laminate edge and if stuck on properly thay will be fine.

i was think of using cut outs under the legs which will elevate the range, then find a plinth to cover the front of the range.

my current plinth size is 150mm, so maybe i can find one 200mm so i can maybe trim.

  • This is what I meant!!!

ours our in a coated black finish - it depends what colour worktop etc you have...

The edging that we have has no lip at the bottom so although ours is the depth of the worktop it wouldn't matter if it wasn't as it is only a few mm.

If you try contacting the company above they might know if/where you can source the size that you need.

Hopefully this might help *fingers crossed for you!*

A decent kitchen fitter should be able to put the cooker on a small platform - most Aga owners have the Aga on a platform as the height cannot be adjusted and it tends to fall short of modern units.

I've just looked at mine and it seems to be a platform specifically for the Aga (so not much use to you!) but I would have thought it easier to raise the floor level underneath the range.
