How long does it take?

About as long as a piece of string. There's no set limit as such and since we don't know when you had the assessment etc.....0

At the moment the system is even more backlogged and people are waiting months to hear anything back regarding their claims. I have heard of 5 and 6 months quite often recently - and even longer until the actual decision is made.0

Atos are being audited and they are on a work to rule so make take a fair while0

Ignore DWP. They're generally incompetent unfortunately, and the staff at the contact centres normally don't know how the system / process works.
The person from Atos who carried out the medical will normally submit the report the same day you've been seen. Most of it is filled out during the medical itself. They'll then complete other sections after you leave.
This is then automatically uploaded and transferred to DWP overnight.
So your report will be with DWP normally the day after your medical.
DWP will then continually say they haven't received it. They have. It just hasn't been processed.0 -
Usually about 5 minutes. It's sent electonically. If you have been told the report hasn't been received you are being lied to.How long does it take?
Ask the DWP to sent you the ESA85 which ATOS completes, this will give an indication of what the outcome of your medical is likely to be.0 -

Not true as Atos are currently being audited and there is a backlog of up to 6 months waiting for them to be passed to DWP.0 -

As mb says, reports are currently been held back by ATOS as they are having to be audited before sending to DWP.0 -
Claims can take anything from a week (the shortest I've heard of) to 8 months for a decision (the longest I've heard of), from receipt of claim form at ATOS.
However, at the moment, ATOS are being monitored to stop the huge number of overturned decisions, and the DWP are, as ever, usually short staffed.
It is very regional and some areas are quicker than others.
You can chase it up, but if your'e being paid, I'd tend to just wait for it to run it's course.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

It could be that the DWP have your report but haven't been able to process it yet.
As posters have advised on your other questions there is just no telling how long it will take unfortunately.0 -
So you are splitting hairs on definitions of what is and is not "received"evolution200 wrote: »DWP will then continually say they haven't received it. They have. It just hasn't been processed.
Actually before it gets "processed" (and you could equally split hairs on the definition of "processed") it gets "received" into the notes and then passed on to a DM.
If you phone them, they will look at notes, if it does not say "ESA55 received passed to DM" then DWP has not acknowledged its receipt and you may be asked to phone ATOS to confirm it has been finished and sent. After calling ATOS you can't do anything except wait.
Once it is noted as "received" you can't do anything except wait, eventually the DM will make a decision and you will be notified by letter - usually arriving the very next day on your doormat.0
