PAYE from 2005-2006

Sorry if this has been answered ive had a look and cant find anything.

The tax credit office are trying to work out my claim, they had taken ages so i rang them up and they told me they needed my earnings for 2005-2006 (ive no idea why they didnt contact me for the info). I dont have this information and dont know how to get it , they gave me a number - 08453667802 but its been engaged for 4 days! does anyone know where i can get what they need? and how come they cant just get it up on their computer? Surely they can get that information to prevent fraud? I no longer work for the same company and in fact had 3 different empoyments that year, im at a loss, can anyone help please?

You should have a P60 from your employer for that year. You are required to keep them for 6 years as the Inland Revenue can go back 6 years to check the correct amount of tax was paid.

If you don't have your P60 or any P45's from that year then you need to approach your employers and get the information from them. The Tax Credit Office don't have access to your pay and tax details as their computer system is totally separate from the Inland Revenue for data protection reasons.
