Spelling mistake on cheque?

I wrote a cheque out to someone for £42 and wrote 'fourty' instead of 'forty'.

Will the cheque clear as normal or will it get rejected because of an unintentional spelling mistake?

Those sort of spelling mistakes have always gone through okay when I have paid them in.

As long as the amount in words and figures is the same, it'll be fine - the banks aren't looking for spelling mistakes!

In fact for such a small cheque, it's unlikely that it's be inspected for technicalities at all

This will be recorded on your credit file for the next 10 years, any future attempt to write a book or qualify as an English teacher will be thwarted.....

    Don't worry you'll be fine.
