hi there
i have bought a 2004 mini cooper in January from a dealer (whom i will never use again wont go into detail)
3 months after i got the car it started to go wrong first the electrics went which i got fixed now now they have gone again i am constantly having to pay out every time a bulb goes to stop me getting fines from the police.
About a month ago i noticed the steering was getting heavy so i took it to a friend who is a mechanic with the AA and he said the steering rack was going and leaking steering fluid. today i went to take my mum to the doctors pulled the car out the parking space and it clonked out on me. I then started it again this time the steering was locked so i managed to get it back into the space eventually. now the whole steering rack has gone.
i am just wanting to get rid of the car it is just a money pit now and i do not wish to keep forking out for it the trouble is i have finance on the car how would this work

Get a settlement figure from the finance and see how much you owe.
Is the car worth more than that figure?

These older (new) minis are pigs of things.
Do whatever you need to to get the car roadworthy and respectable. Get a settlement figure.
If you sell privately get the buyer to pay the finance company direct (in your presence), if you're trading in, the dealer will clear the finance as part of that.
Selling it as is / with a major fault and it will be worth peanuts. I've bought and sold a couple and i've paid £1300 for an 04 one with a bit of miles. Imagine what yours will be worth with a major fault.0 -

hardly an expensive part. not a major problem.
1.5 hours labor to fit.
power steering pumps tend to fail on them too.0 -
I think its more likely to be the pump unit that needs rebuilt, get your friend to contact bba-reman for the price of a repair.0

Will the 1.5 hours take into account sized track rods and the likes?
With the potential of more time, delivery from the site then allignment set up after it, it's not as cheap as it first appearsAll your base are belong to us.0 -

Irrespective, still needs done. Car is going to be worth peanuts to anyone unless its in A1 condition.0 -

seized track rods?
there no track rod bolt that's ever given me an issue with the right tools even then if one did arise i'd simply grind the bolt off 2 second job as new rack ends come with new bolts.
OP doesn't have to buy form that site its a representation of the cost. can go to local motor factor and get it same day if he orders it before 10 in most places same with power pumps.
start to finish a garage should have it done and aligned in less than 2 hours labor time.0
