silly question of the day? - back-up DVDs

As a computer 'baby' - I know this is a daft question to those more knowledgeable - but..... I've been very good ...I am doing back-ups when my pc tells me to (on unused DVD-RWs that I have for my DVD recorder). I'm now onto my 3rd one - and, if I am going to do this monthly then I will land up with all these unwanted used DVDs from previous back-ups. Can I re-use them - as in put them in my (fussy - as in "princess and the pea" Sony DVD recorder) and clean off data from them same as I do for tv programmes I previously recorded - and then go on and use them as normal (for tv recording on one hand - or re-use for future back-ups on pc on t'other hand).

If they're RWs (ReWriteable) then yes. If they're Rs (Recordable) you can only write once."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
