Audi A4, Can anyone Help?

Can anyone help? My Stepdaughter (Laura) bought an Audi A4 in March 2013 from John Ayres Cars, this car has a full Audi service history except for the last one, which was done at John Ayres Cars. The oil pump went in September this year which caused problems to the turbo & balance shaft assembly, after doing some research have found that this is a common design fault & Audi knows about this problem.

Laura got a repair quote from Audi Dealer in Kings Lynn of well over £2000, + towing fees etc.
As Laura had been without a car for sometime she decided to search for & found a garage (Saracens Group Ltd.) that specialize in Audi & Volkswagen repairs in town (Fakenham), no towing fees & could be done immediately.

The total cost of repairs was £1839.91 inc. vat

Laura Has Spoken to the Audi Dealership in King Lynn & they said she would not get the full amount, between 40 - 70% of cost as it was done at Saracens & dependent on the service History.

To this seems to prove that Audi in Kings Lynn know and admit to the design fault & are trying to give Laura the run around, also they say she should claim from the car dealership
who sold her the car! (John Ayers Cars).

I think because of the fault it is Audi’s responsibility. please advise

Thank you

Anthony

You havent told us the year of the car but i'm assuming 2006 - 2007 as thats the problem years for this problem.

If thats the case, yes, whilst its a known problem the fact the car is (a) 6 - 7 years old and (b) Audi are prepared to make a very significant contribution, (c) you didnt get the repairatory work done by Audi, (d) theres no Audi main dealer FSH therefore i dont think you've much comeback with Audi themselves for the full amount.

You bought the car from a dealer approx 6 months ago, so i doubt you'll have much comeback there. You could try them for a goodwill gesture but i dont think they would be "obliged" to pay anything.

the fault would be Audi's responsibility but it doesn't mean you can pick and choose where you send it and just send them the bill expecting them to pay for it.
Asking about who was picking up the bill should have happened before Laura authorised the garage to do the work.
