If my son earns whilst away at Uni, does his income affect my wife & I's means tested benefits like Income Support?
What about when he comes home for summer?
Obviously, he wants to get a job, but his mum & I need to know what affect it will have on our home situation.

I'm a student who works, and mum has periodically had to claim JSA in that time. She's never asked me for income details, so I can only presume that the JobCentre hasn't asked her.
TBH I think it's usually assumed that student's PT earnings are to support their education, not their parents.0 -
Different benefits.
OP is asking about means tested benefit.
JSA isn't a means tested benefit....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Simple answer is that your son's earnings won't affect your benefits.0

Our finances are 'interesting' so DWP check us quite regularly. Don't want to draw attention by contacting them but have to make sure everything is legit.0
