Hi Guys, Want to buy daughter a new Laptop for Xmas.
I,ve got Acer Aspire, served me well, but never had any other type of laptop.
Couple questions.
1: Is AMD as good as Intel?
2: Of all the manufactures on the market, which ones to avoid?
Asus seems to be popular, and Sony Viao, but, just want to know other opinions, before I look.
Just a normal 15 inch screen, Cd/Dvd drive, used for day to day usage, banking/surfing,/etc.about £300>£400.No gaming /films/etc
Advice appreciated:beer:

Avoid Sony-They do not honour their waranty/ guarantee.
At the time I had a sony vaio, with two built in optical drives.
9 months in to a 12 month w/g one of them stopped working.
CS could not manage a sentance with out the word virus in it
They wanted **THREE WEEKS** to sort the problem, and possibly wipe the hard drive.
Needless to say I told them where to get off, and bought a retail drive from currys to do the job my self in 30 minutes. Yes it was a propper internal one0 -
If you want touchscreen, for under £400, you could consider asus vivobook
