We got gazumped on a house earlier this year.

Vendor accepted our offer (we insisted on them taking it off the market) and then a week or so later the ea rang back saying they'd accepted a higher offer and would we like to raise ours. I was absolutely seething with them and had no intention of paying more.

Anyway, I told them to let me sleep on it and the rang them back next day offering asking price, the greedy sellers snatched our hands off of course. I didn't answer any phone calls from the ea for a few days whilst I went out looking at other houses.

We finally answered the phone from the ea after we found the house we're in now and he was keen as mustard 'to get the deal moving'. He was spitting feathers when we told him to tell the sellers to ram their house :rotfl:

The gazumper obviously told them where to go aswell when they went back to him as it was on the market for weeks afterwards.

I'll repeat what I said earlier for those who still don't understand-

A buyer who makes a higher offer than you is not the gazumper!
(They may not even be aware of your offer)

    ONLY vendors can "gazump".

    Hi again, Update:

After a load more viewings, tears and tantrums. We have put in an offer on another house it isn't quite as nice as the first but it is only about 400 yards from where we live now:)

The EA has spoken to the wife and she didn't say no, just that she would have to talk to OH.

Crossing my fingers and waiting for the phone to ring..............
    Loving the dtd thread. x

    Further update:

They turned us down and due to some unforseen costs that we have realised we wont be increasing ou offer. Another vendor has got back to us and they have now accepted the offer we put in but we are now going to say we aren't interested as we have found a house just 9 doors down the road. They have agreed to sell and are now looking for somewhere to go.

Only 1 small point that I am not happy about and that is the fact that the other vendor must have been seriously desperate to sell to take our low offer and I now feel dreadful about no longer being able to go ahead with the sale.

    Best wishes to you arthur.

I hope you don't get gazumped again.

(but don't forget though- only VENDORS can "gazump").
