Bought a house, considering renting or selling (how do i get it valued?)

Hi all, my brother and I decided to enter the property market when we were given the opportinity to buy a house which needed refurbishing. The owner was an old lady who did nothing to the house so it was in a mess.

Now the ball is rolling and payments are going out for the morage we are deciding on either renting or selling. The property still has quite a bit of work to do but i wanted to know how exactly i could get it valued possibly for free ;)

Also supposing i was to rent the property out and say purchase another one how difficult would be to get another morage?

Getting your house valued is easy you just ask local estate agents. If you use agents that also do lettings you will be able to get both a valuation and an idea of how much rent you could achieve if you decide to rent rather than sell. It is usually better to get 3 different agents in, as valuing property is not an exact science, and then take an average of the valuations.

Buy to let mortgages are widely available a good place to look is the sunday papers as they usually have comparison tables for rates and arrangement fees.

No. They all offer a free valuations just explain that you are not sure whether to sell or rent and they will give you free advice. Obviously they hope that if you do decide to sell you will use them but there is no obligation on your part.
