Best way to leave live wire safe after removing fan?

Need some advice here please.
I would like to remove an extractor fan in our downstairs toilet currently feeding from the light circuit( its one that just comes on and off when the lights are turned on/off) and cover the hole left there with just a grill but the lights will still be live.
This will leave the exposed black & red wire that fed to it.
I want to leave the wires there in case I need them again in future.
What would be the best way to terminate the ends safely so I can just leave them tucked away in the ceiling?
Will a bit of electrical tape around each end be safe or sufficient?
Thanks as usual

Terminal block on each wire, then wrapped up with electrical tape.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

The wire should be disconnected at the other end, either in the ceiling rose or junction box.
Wrapping with insulation tape is no good and unsafe.0 -
Thanks guys
The only issue is I cannot get to the other end of the wires to totally isolate them, sorry should have mentioned this.:j0 -
Get one of the round plastic junction boxes and connect the wires to separate copper wiring blocks inside.0

And write on the outside, in permanent marker "LIVE!!"0
