First car accident

  • I had two guys helping me at the scene who were clearly partnered with the police, a big help. Got a blur car around it while it was being towed and kept me calm. So they reported it for me and told me to tell my insurers. If council ask, I'll pay, but there have been other incidents on the railing and one is far bigger than what I put there so won't take the blame for repairing it all.

Also I paid insurance annually anyway. So I can either suspend it or get a refund I guess. When I decide to look at another car, I'll see what they say. But surely since I've already told them about the crash and that I've scrapped it, it's going to go up either way.

clearly... so obvious from the OP's original post...

get off judging here, could be simple inexperience in driving in dark wet conditions. get off your soapbox until you are a perfect driver yourself, or unless the OP says otherwise. Even then, judgement is unwarranted...

AKA driving too fast for the conditions.;)

Doesn't sound like that from what the OP said.

Sounds like what it is, a lack of experience. Seems that if they'd been going any slower they'd have been at a standstill. ;)
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

If the council ask, don't expect it to be cheap!!

(The police often do inform owners when their property is damaged in a RTA)
