Hello guys, im 99% i have no hope but would like some advice from someone who knows what they're talking about before i take my tv to the skip

I bought a TV in December 2009 that came with a 5 year warranty, my TV packed up a few weeks back and only then when i went through the folder with the manual did i notice a piece of paper i was supposed to fill in and send off by July 2010. Being gullible i assumed it was actually guaranteed and if an issue arose i would simply call the shop for a repair.

I have the receipt with my name address proof of purchase and the included warranty which is so annoying, is there anywhere i can phone or no?
thanks in advance
lee

I think you should be okay with the info you have for warrant purposes. This article would agree with that.

  • i actually read that the other day but he only goes on to rant about telemarketers and by him throwing his in the bin there's zero chance he actually got his warranty fulfilled, useless article really thanks though

A warranty is in addition to your rights under the Sales Of Goods Act.

You can try getting it fixed using the warranty, but if they turn around and say "Sorry, didn't fill the details out as per the T&C, no free repair for you" then there is nothing legally you can do about it.

The other option is to go down the SoGA which is detailed at the top of the page under Consumer Rights, but a 4 year old TV is pushing it depending on how much it cost, you pay end up getting pennies back to the pound paid.

Or go buy a new one. There are some cracking deals out there at the moment.
  • it was £800 and the shop already said no, was worth looking into anyway thanks
