I bought a cooker from Appliances Online and he white paint/enamel started flaking off the edge of the hob but this was around 12 months after purchase, I contacted them to complain and had an engineer out within a fortnight fitting a new top to the cooker. I had great service off them but maybe I was just lucky.

    Hi

AOL are sending an engineer via Leisure after one of their customer services reps rang me after one of my numerous emails. We will wait to see the outcome of the visit...will I be charged or will the area be replaced like the previous posters?

    Thanks for all the postings

  • Good for you jevban (& your perseverance). I think the problem has been with Leisure (who are responsible) not AO, who seem to have pushed the issue on your behalf, good for them.

Hope like paddedjohn you get the right result because it doesn't sound like you're misusing or mistreating this cooker.

These are the type of 'gifts' we buy for our sons homes (birthday/xmas), practical but appreciated & I'd be horrified if one of them was left with your cooker problem for anything I bought them. Sort of takes the shine off the lovely gift your Mum made.

It's a shame you've had to be so tenacious when the thing isn't even 1 year old & shame on Leisure! Yes, you bought a cooker and it cooks BUT, you also bought a BLACK cooker and in some places it's no longer black.

Good luck with the engineer. Do post the result.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

How are Leisure responsible, OP has no contract with them ? Their contract is with AOL who the oven was purchased from and as such should be sorting the problem out. Manufacturers warranty is in addition to the statutory rights with the supplier.
