Numberplate bulb out

Good job I noticed as I have my MOT in a couple of weeks. But before I rush out to change it (was extremely fiddly last time). My numberplate has two bulbs, is it still a fail if one is out but the other still working?

    Worth rushing to get done.

Just the excuse for a pull over and full check of everything which at the very least will slow you down, but could be worse if anything untoward is spotted!

Thats the sort of fail that a garage will put right and pass you for without asking. If its to fiddly get the halfords monkeys to do it, but watch em.

Is it still? A few years back, certainly but IME garages are a lot less willing to pop-in a new bulb and pass you compared to a few years ago. Maybe not least because of the absolute pulaver involved in changing lamps on some models now?

And I say this as one who has recently had an MOT fail due to a dud numberplate lamp - Which must have failed at the test because it was checked and found ok the night before!
  • Changed bulb today. Knew the 2pk bulbs I bought when the other one went out early in the year would come in handy.
