Credit Card on Credit Report

Hi,
I took out a credit card in July and have been spending on it and paying it off in the hope of upping my credit score (which is currently 'fair').
When I applied for the credit card my score was 'good' but since then I have closed my catalogue account as I was told that having a £6000 credit limit with them was affecting my chances of getting a credit card due to the £6000 being close to 50% of my wages.
Since taking out the credit card this has not appeared on my credit file which means that my credit score has dropped as I have no unsecure credit
How long should I expect it to take to show up on my credit report? I thought it was usually around 3 months but it's been a fair bit longer than that and is having a negative impact on my score.

Credit card is with Halifax and the credit report I use is Experian (and yes I do know that the score doesn't really matter but if Halifax card isn't showing on my report then it may not show if I applied for other credit???)0
