Account disappearing off file

Hello All,

I had an account that started in January 2007 with a finance company that has suddenly been removed from all 3 credit files.

Now I had thought the account had defaulted in 2008 but when I spoke to them the other day they said it had defaulted in 2010.

So my question really is why has it been removed from my account? To be honest it is good that it has gone as there was the initial default that I thought I had an quite a few late payments so I won't chase it up with them but was just wondering why.....

Might have been sold. Sometimes the vanish for a bit until the new company updates your file.

Some of mine were missing for a few weeks at some point when this happened.

The account is with Welcome Finance so I presumed they would not have sold the debt?

If it's defaulted, they might do. Is it still being paid or is it paid in full, or not at all?

Do you have any older copies of your credit file to see what default date was showing on your files?

If the default registered on your file wasn't 6 years ago then the most likely explanation is that the debt has been sold to a new debt collection agency, and that it may reappear shortly (or may not).

Who the original creditor was makes little difference to the chance of it being sold to new debt collectors several years after it defaulted.

It is still being paid for via direct debit to the same company and have had no correspondance from them though I spoke to them last week and they never mentioned it being sold off.

To be honest I thought it had defaulted back in 2007 (around October time) which would then make sense as to why it is now removed.

Sorry Tixy, I don't have any older copies of my file apart from my CallCredit copy but that doesn't even show that it was defaulted.

Quite often the staff you speak to would not have a clue the account would be sold.

If it did default 2007, that would make sense.

An SAR would clarify this, probably only worth it if it re appears.
