How long will my credit stay like this

Hi All,

Signed up but only used this once before.

I currently have bad credit so my credit file says, I have 6 active accounts on my credit file:

House (Only got in April 2013)
Car (October 2012)
Visa Card
Bank Account
Phone Contract
Catalogue

I was in financial difficulty in 2007 so now the majority of defaults have fallen off and I have 5 remaining due to fall off this year the amounts I owed a maximum of £200.

Should my credit be this bad even though I got a mortgage car etc, I only want a balance transfer credit card......

Unfortunately, if you have unexpired Defaults on your file, then yes, your credit rating (forget the score, its meaningless), will take a beating - it indicates to a prospective lender, especially one like a credit card xfer where you want to just dump one debt from another card, that you have had problems before and so are a risk - have to ride out the 6 years I'm afraid

Have you tried and been declined for a new credit card?

Or are you assuming you won't get one due to the fact that one of the credit reference agencies says you have a bad credit file?

I am assuming I have only used Call Credit (Noddle) and the free checker for credit cards on this site.
