  • When I say diy nothing major. More like banging a few pins back in that were coming out. Just tried to call IKEA, 60 minute wait to speak to someone due to "higher than average call volumes". Gulp!!!

our Klippan sofas are still going strong and are coming up 8 yrs old.
One spring underneath has come off but OH just screwed it back up.
More of a problem for us is how we sit, it's caused dents shaped to our bodies ( well my arm where I use lappy on arm of sofa)

Ours have been used by a family of six in that time, so your larger friend must've been quite large to cause damage. As I am also larger, and hubby isn't tiny!.

So either we've been lucky with ours OR you've been unlucky?
They do seem to crop on freecycle often so keep an eye out there.
  • Hi everyone

Thanks for all your advise. We do also have a 3 1/2 year old little one bouncing about.....reckon that contributed to the sofa somewhat! :-p

However, I was pregnant when we moved in so the landlady knew there would be kiddiwinks in the equation.

Anyhow, I've managed to "win" a sofa on Freecycle. Nothing fancy but will do for the time being.

My hubby will call the landlady tonight to tell her about the sofa and what we've done to replace it in the short term.

Still worth a call to Ikea. No need to even say you're renting, just that a sofa was purchased on whatever date (see if the landlady has a receipt/bank statement) and get them to fix/replace.
