We do have this red and black (huge rose print)dress ballgown she didn't wear it would lush steampunked. Its got that higher at the front with a little train at the back thing going on. Add buckles use the wrap that came with it to make a waistcoat.... Might be worth looking on ebay for a similar project.

You know, I'm thinking I might go for a patterned dress. Whilst I like the dress I already have (and it was certainly MSE!) I'm a bit concerned by it's popularity and the likelihood that one of my guests might turn up in the same one! I can always keep it as a fancy cocktail dress.

Totally know where you're coming from!! I'm not a fan of traditional wedding dresses and hate the thought of a huge dress I can barely move in. I bought my dress in monsoon, it's pink and sparkly so not your traditional dress, but dressed up with a veil and jewellery hopefully it'll be clear enough that i'm the bride! Have you seen Phase eight's wedding dresses? Bit pricey but they make some really nice understated dresses including knee length ones!
