People who take out payday loans....

First of all - well done you for getting sorted and moving on :T:beer::T
However, according to the BBC News article, a PayDay Loan may remove that option for many...
Yes I was vaguely aware of this. My last payday loan was about 4 years ago so I think they could see it wasn't an issue in my present. Also I think our 25% deposit helped
I just hope that they investigate the circumstances surrounding it a bit as opposed to slapping down a 100% ban on it. Seems a tad harsh for some who, like me, had a brief desperate period a long time ago.First home purchased 09/08/2013

Labour and their social engineers introduced the minimum wage to lift people out of poverty.
It has failed
There is now talk of an enhancement to the minimum wage, called the living wage.
Another to be released social experiment on poverty.
Reality remains that these companies exist beacuse the government and social engineers cannot fix the problem of poverty!
As for me. Well, for the second time this year, beacuse some invoiced (4 figure) remian unpaid in my company, I will have to borrow £100 to get through until a pay day! It will be left as late as practical!
Yet a Multi Million pound organisation again that owes me money, gets away with it, but should I take a pen from their reception I am sure I would be done for theft!0 -
Yeah, sure, it just reminds me of people who have a talent/skill/awareness that can't understand why other people don't. At school I was treated like an idiot because I couldn't play sports. It was utterly beyond the ability of my classmates or PE teacher to understand that I didn't have the ability to throw/catch/kick things like them.
It's not just that some people are dumb - because they are, undoubtedly - and others are ignorant, but we exist in a system where the people who make the rules want fewer people to understand them. Wonga etc. would much prefer it if NONE of us understood maths at all, and a significant number of politicians are on the boards of payday loan companies, let's not even get started on the amount of lobbying they pay for.
You and I are lucky. That's all. We're not special, or god's chosen few, we're just a handful of people who have had the opportunity in life to make decent financial decisions. We ought to do all we can to share this with others and I don't like it when people take the p**s out of those who make s**t financial decisions.
The weak need our help not our derision. I thin I'm saying I agree with you. Am I?
Very much agreed. My biggest gripe was the fact that this thread was not started to bring awareness to an issue or to provide help or support to people in need. It was started with the intention of insulting people for the sake of insulting them.0 -

I just did a quick calculation on Wonga to see how much it would cost to borrow 300 pounds for 2 week. turns out it's £48.27. I was unaware this was a lifechanging amount of money.
Nearly £50 for £300 over 2 weeks -that strikes me as a lot!
Granted as a one off , once in a lifetime payment it wouldn't hurt many ; but they rarely are one offs. If that is taken out a few times a year ( or rolled over) it pretty soon cripples.0 -

I think the OP is too busy being super-sensible with their money on the Betting board to notice...First home purchased 09/08/2013
