OP, I'm amazed that the school aren't answering the phone. I'd keep trying if I were you although can't believe taking time out in term time is a good idea unless 'exceptional circumstances'.

Still no reply today, and i've sent an email for a reply also (9.30 this morning - no reply as yet).

The A- level course will probably be pretty hectic and anyone missing for any length of time will have problems.

I remember a girl asking me, near end of Y 12" 'Will I miss anything, I'm going on holiday with my boyfriend?"

My sarcastic answer of 'No, we'll all stop and wait for you.' Got me into trouble. :(:(

I'm amazed at that. All the schools I know have phones answered promptly or an answerphone or even students answering in the lunchbreak. As others have pointed out they're competing for students! I don't suppose you'd have time to call in person?

It is an answering machine, sorry - just meant no-one answered/called me back.

Her school is most certainly not competing for students, a 2nd unsatisfactory ofstead and now its being made into an Academy.

I think they are avoiding calls as parents want to know about Academy status and so we're referred to their website.

Only I'm not calling about that part, its just frustrating.
