Transfering Money into Tesco Savings Account (1000 Clubcard Points)

As recently detailed in the money saving expert email. I have recently opened a Tesco Savings account to bag myself the 1000 points.
The account itself is open and showing a credit of £1 as per the cheque that I sent through. I completed the direct debit mandate on application of the account and it is listed as being set up on my current account as a Variable direct debit.
This evening I attempted to transfer the said £1000 from the Tesco website from my linked account to the savings account and it wouldn't accept the transaction. It said that I had to wait 14 days. I by calculations it has be in excess of 14days.
As the online Tesco service gives me my account number and sort code, could I just do a standard one off money transfer from my current account to the Tesco Savings Account, like a BACS payment?
Any help would be appreciated.

I opened an account and so did my hubby. I received a letter wanting to confirm my details and when I phoned and said my husband opened his account OK why did they need to confirm my details they said only one per household as on the small print in the leaflet. I did it all off the internet and don't remember seeing this on the site.0

I have to say that of all the online savings accounts I have opened, the Tesco's one seem to have been the most painful.
The online application isn't to bad but the rest is a complete pain. such as setting up online banking. If it wasn't for the points....My farts hospitalize small children0 -

It actually came by post. I really wasn't impressed as the secure measures taken to deliver my PIN number for the card either. I thought it was a piece of toilet paper that someone had put through my letter box.
Thankfully the security code came in an envelope. My account was open after 9th May, and I've had mine. It might be worth calling them. I called to set up phone banking in between so I'm not sure if this may have speeded things up a little. Did you provide a sample signature after they opened your account? My farts hospitalize small children0 -
after they opened the account i returned the activation confirmation they wanted returning which i assume was the signature of confirmation of their receipts, nope ive not called them for telephone banking and theve not called me.
im loathed to phone 0845 nos if possible cos cost detracts from gains made on the account, if nec ill withdraw 500.00 two days running from the cashpoint.
before i pay the cheque in to tesco ill check to see if the cashpoint lets me in or not just in case tescos didnt receive the activation confirmation back.0 -
