Dreading training :(

Training class tonight and I have that feeling of dread again!

Positive thoughts to help me out please! I know LS picks up on my moods and so dreading it is really not going to help at all.

He is already getting stroppy as I haven't taken him a walk this evening. He gets agitated walking in the dark, so have decided to not walk him in the hope that when we arrive at class he will be slightly calmer than he was last time. He had a good run on the park earlier, so hopefully enough time has passed that he has calmed down from that.

Blummin dogs!

It is over for another week, thankfully!

I have all arms and legs accounted for, and LS has not yet been strangled so I think it actually went quite well! We even managed to join the class calmly for approx 10 mins in total out of the hour so I am pleased :)

Even the trainer said that he managed to focus for a couple of seconds at a time, and the rest of the time was spent looking at the other dogs, but often in a quite relaxed way rather than the manic way it used to be.

I think I dread it so much because I know he will show me up, but then it is silly to be thinking about that because I am not there to make me look good, I am there to help him.

Just need to give myself a good talking to occasionally!

I remember when I took mutt, on one memorable occasion she pratted around, ignored everything I said and generally showed me up. The trainer took over, she went into floozie mode and followed him round batting her eyelashes and jumping to his every command. I could have killed her.

I don't know about you, but I generally found mutt better behaved out of class than in - probably picking up on my feelings of dread. I'm still psyching myself up to enrol gitdog.

When you enrol gitdog elsien - can you let me know where and when? I would pay good money to watch him in action!

That time of the week again!

This week one of LS' best buddies is going to be there, so hopefully that will give him (and me) some more confidence. I am hoping that if he sticks close to her we might be able to get him even more involved in the class as she won't stand for any of his messing about!

just learn the stuff that the trainer shows you then practice , practice at home, my dog easy to train at home, hell on earth in class, just wants to play with the other dogs all the time. Its a horrible way to learn but unfortunately one to one lessons too expensive for most of us

I believe Katy goes to classes for the socialisation aspect as well as the learning part of it

How sad that your dog trainer makes you feel like this about classes :-(
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
