Advice Needed On Engine Cover Please

Hi Everyone
I have just bought a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Sri 60plate car and would like to know the following please...
I am really happy with the car but noticed the engine has no cover underneath to keep water spraying up all over the engine. I know most people dont keep the engine bay clean but I like to keep my car spotless if I can but more importantly I don't want water and salt etc going over the engine bay.
Can you get a cover fitted underneath the car does anyone know to keep water and muck from splashing up over the engine?

Thank you in advance for any help.

It sounds like the original cover is missing. Most likely wasn't fastened properly by whoever changed the engine oil, or damaged.

You better get a replacement one soon, the bottom engine cover also holds the plastic wheel arch linings in place - they may break off at high speed when the bottom engine cover is missing.

It may not have had the cover in the 1st place. Specs swap and change weekly it seems.

Get yourself a cover from a breakers and fit that. Dont forget to ask for the fittings also.

There not many cars that a full under tray. Some of the eco cars do. Most will usually have a partial covering. Can't find any reference to one for engine but there a few on the bay for the oil burners.

Try the all vauxhall Web forum/one of the Astra forums.

Full undertrays are more common than you suggest. My 2005 Octavia has one and it's not a special eco model. So at the very least there are shed loads of VAG cars about with them. But not all cars have them as you say, and I'm not sure about the Astra in question.

There will next to no splashing as the engine is almost forward of the front axle anyway. And no much in the way of problems to arise from being splashed anyway. This sounds like a ocd issue.
  • Thank you for all your help guys, much appreciated

Unless it is only fitted to the diesels to keep noise down, the last recent Astra I saw certainly had a full undertray.
