green space veg
Hi All.
I am trying to get some of the grass that is in the centre of our crescent turned into small areas where people can grow their own fruit and veg. I have e mailed the parish council twice, but no one answers. I live in a small village. The area is simply not used.
Can anyone help.
Thanks.
Sigibb.

Your first job is actually to find out who owns the land; it is more likely to be the County Council, it could be a private owner or a charitable trust.
Try the Land Registry first. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I agree with RAS you need to find out who owns the land as it may not be the council. We have a stretch of grass in front of our home and through much research by a neighbour we found out it is owned by the country estate a few miles away as it used to be part of their rose garden!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

You say, "I am trying....etc." but is it just you?
If it is, and there's no great grass roots support (pardon pun
) there may be concern that this is not likely to be approved of by others, or be sustained in the longer term.
Then there are questions of ownership, insurance and finance, none of them unanswerable, but so much easier when tackled as a true community project.
Regardless of all that, the Clerk to the Parish Council should have responded out of courtesy. I recently emailed mine and received an acknowledgement within a day or so, followed by action at the next meeting and a report later on the County Council's response. Nothing was resolved, but at least people were accountable for what they weren't able to do!
