Flooring damaged during delivery.

I have recently re-decorated my dining room. Including having the original (pine) flooring sanded and a lacquer applied. This cost £470
We purchased a new dining table from a small local furniture supplier. We brought in store and paid on a debit card.
The furniture was paid for in full prior to delivery.
When they delivered the table and chairs they have scratched the flooring in several places.
We are 100% certain that they caused the damage - but they are not prepared to take any responsibility for this.
We were hoping for the damage to be repaired or some form of compensation.
Would anybody be able to advise if we have any way which we can pursue this with the furniture store in question?
Many thanks - hope i'm posting in the right place.

Being 100% certain and being able to prove who caused the damage are two different things.
Did you point out the damage to the delivery people at the time?
If not, then I am afraid you will struggle with this.0 -
You'd also need to check their delivery terms & conditions. Most companies will deliver to your house - i.e. they will get the goods to your front door, not to a specific room in the house.
Once the goods are in the house, they are probably not responsible, as it's up to you where they are put and how they get there.
If the damage is bad, then claim for it on your house insurance, that's the easiest.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Doesn't sound like we have anywhere to go with the store..
Thanks very much for the quick responses - much appreciated.0
