Toshiba satellite C660 won't boot

Toshiba satellite C660
I have the above laptop running Win 7
It only seems to boot part way but never gets past the page with the expanding icon
I tried safe mode but once the page full of file info and "please wait" appears at the bottom nothing more happens
I want to get it restored back to factory settings but can't even access that either
I understood that I should hold down the "0" (Zero) button when powering up but that only gets me "Windows startup repair" and all that does is states windows is loading files then a blank screen
I don't want Startup repair, I want to access the recovery partition back to factory settings
I'm not worried about any data loss I just want it working again
Can anyone advise?
Thanks

Of course you created the Recovery Discs when prompted....didn't you?

Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard and then press the computers power switch

    Otherwise look here

If you want more precise details, post the full model number.

    Hi
I followed instructions as in the link you sent and for a moment I thought it was problem solved
I gained access to the partition and ran the factory reset and left it running for around 30 mins till ir asked for a reboot
Now it's exactly the same as before
    Tried safemode again but nothing
When left alone it goes into a never ending cycle of booting, trying to startup, failing and rebooting.
TThere was one suggestion on the safe mode page to insert a Windows installation disc and select "repair"
Unlike in early days microsoft no longer provide Win 7 installation discs with computers which leaves me stuck.
I'm not paying out for a brand new Win 7 install

    Don't need the Serial number.

Do you have another machine which you can use to make a recovery disc?

I'll send you the link via PM.

You should use the disc to run CHKDSK /R

Windows 7 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt

Let's hope that you upgraded the RAM from 1GB. Would be painfully slow otherwise.
This 2GB module is recommended at £9.99. If money is tight, then at least this 1GB module for £3.99

Once you solve the current issue of course.
