Hi All,
Basically looking for something to use for the internet, play some online poker, and travelling for 8 weeks next year so want to keep a bit of a blog, and upload photos to Facebook etc. What's the best thing to get? Got a budget of circa £300
Looked at iPads, laptops, netbooks!
Thanks in advance,
OV

If you take the photos with the iPad - then that will be enough.
If they are on a camera you will need some way of extracting them from the camera - so a laptop / netbook would work better.
You could also use a (Android) tablet that has a micro sd slot and use an adapter to fit the card in your camera.0 -
So all 3 will be suitable?!It's always darkest before the dawn.

Tablets are much harder for typing on, but very good battery life and very lightweight.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0

Overbudget. But you can use it as both tablet and PC.0 -

So you're 'that' person?
Online poker - does it use flash/ has a windows/mac only download? Or is there an 'app' for it?
I was going to suggest the asus t100 (I'm getting one for xmas) but get it from america as its about £210 + shipping/VAT, however it doesn't have a rear camera. If you have a phone though, it will be a better camera than most tablets anyway.
If you have a crappy phone, how about something a bit different... The asus padfone 2. Bit out of budget, but does look pretty cool

Tablets are killing off netbooks. No need for virus protection or a firewall. Documents, etc can be uploaded to a cloud service. Get a nice size, say 9 in & you will not need a computer.
Netbooks are very handy but vulnerable to malware & Trojans. You need to run anti virus once a week & update every day, a real pain.
The latest cloud services also supply online office software for free.0 -

Other than the first sentence. Quoi? Are you seriously suggesting something like an ipad can replace a desktop PC? And are you saying that only 'netbooks' are vulnerable to malware/trojans (I'm presuming you mean windows here)?
What an utterly naive post, you're a hackers/criminals dream come true if you seriously believe Android and iOS can't and have never been exploited.0
