Monday 4th November - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

Good morning to everyone, Monday is here, it's cold miserable so only one thing for that - a day in doors being productive embarking on my new journey and the challenges I face!

So today I am going to be busy doing the following:

    - list on ebay
    - washing on 30
    - all meals from stores
    - no spend day
    - ironing
    - stay away from buying and drinking fizzy drinks!
    - research slow cookers

Off to crack on with coffee in my hand! Have a lovely day!

Check check check - managed to complete nearly all of my list except for the ironing, but will do a bit soon. Very good day!!
A new year, new month, new focus and new hope - must stay on the right path for my dreams to come true!

It's not all about central heating and spot lights - cherish wrapping up warm and using candles! It's the small things in life!!

Good luck with the research, I have an Asda 3litre one, it does curries, soups and stews mainly, very nice to come home to after a long/cold day ;)

I cancelled my LoveFilm, dead laptop along with a few other unexpected expenses means I need to cut back. Also planning this to be a SFD, so eating only what's in the house, also planning to start knitting up part of my sister's birthday present from some nice fluffy wool I got at 3 balls for £1, also making bread tonight hopefully, so no buying lunch (tomorrow). :)
  • Good morning everyone, Its a nice sunny day here today.

    Morning all,

    Thanks for the starter Ziggy.

Was going to start the day with a brisk walk in the cold, sunny air. Except OH has accidentally left the house in a hurry with both sets of house-keys.:rotfl:That'll have to wait til later.

    The List:

    :D Checked online banking.

:D Last Housing Benefit payment arrived. Spent wisely settling OH's tax bill.

    :D Meals from stores.

:D Exfoliate with sea salt from kitchen.

  • Morning lovelies!!

Thanks for starting us off Ziggy x
Well, we had a very quiet night shift last night - the rain obviously kept people inside last night! On the plus side, got lots of little jobs done on work's time!! Hehe!

So... Today's list looks like this:

:) Checked banking - all fine

:) Nectar Adpoints - seriously tedious, but over the £30 mark now, so really worth it!!
We have a new plan to use the points towards flights for our Summer Holiday next year!!

:) Cleaned car at work garage, inside & out; topped up water, screenwash and tyres using work's kit!

:) Shared lift and took some fruit in to work to snack on.

:) Helped colleague with budgeting and planning for when he moves into his own house next month... (the same colleague who spends £300+ a month on coffees - easier said than done!!!!!!!)

    :) Charged phone at work

:) Used voucher to buy OH an album she wanted as a small gift

:) Make spicy parsnip soup... One of my favourites - will make a batch and freeze some for later!

:) Submit gas and electric meter readings prior to billing time!

:) Take down balcony solar lights before they get too battered over winter - cleaned and stored ready for next year!

    :) Quick Hoover and dust

:) Light wash on economy whilst I slept!

:) Keeping the heating off as will be tucked up in bed!

:) It's our anniversary today, so taking OH out for a meal in Clifton tonight on Clubcard Reward vouchers - winner! I'll drive, so just a couple of drinks to pay for.

Think that's about it - have a fantastic day everyone!! Big MSE love xxx

    Hi everyone :)

:heart2: Today will be a SFD for me
:heart2: Lunch from the freezer - we bought a load of bread and bagels in the reduced section of Tesco so I just freeze it all and lift what I need in the morning to take to work :)
:heart2: Dinner from the freezer - easy cod and chips I think
:heart2: eBay some things to sell
:heart2: put my guitar on gumtree (I promise I'll actually get round to it today :rotfl: )
:heart2: start making up the Christmas hampers I bought for OH's family - I just want them out of the way so I don't need to think about it anymore! :D
:heart2: swagbucks - I only need 350SB for a £25 voucher which would be great towards Christmas so aiming to be able to cash it out tomorrow at the latest!

Does anyone know what I can do with pears? For some reason my husband bought pears when they were on BOGOF - he only eats one and then the rest go off! I've around 11 left! Determined not to let that happen again :).

    Hi all

Back in the game now as am in debt again - put my annual train pass on my 6& APR CC (couldn't get a 0% one) so have that to pay off. Have been putting £25 aside every month for the last year so have £325 towards it but still a lot more to pay off. It's cheaper to get the annual one even with the interest than to pay monthly or weekly so it's a worthwhile debt in the long run.

    So, my things for today.

    Check banking - done
B,L,D from stores including leftover party food
Pick up free Nails Inc nailvarnish from Debenhams then list on Ebay - done (not Ebay part, waiting until free listing)
Pick up free Uncle Ben's rice from T3sco (voucher in Metro) - done
Pick up free Greek Gods yoghurt from S4insbury's
Use £3 card in Body Shop to get a freebie - done, got hand wash :)
Take stuff back to Primark then remember to pay cash off CC when cleared
Cancel Lovefilm - done - need to remember to post DVDs back
Book onto free art club for DS for Friday - done
Sw4bucks, Inst4GC, BirthdayBingo, Freepostcodelottery and Adpoints - done

Have happy DFW days all xx
