In other words, you have no answer to my response. It was YOU who brought up the usual nonsense peddled by energy industry shills, not I. Feel free to have another go at a proper response.

If we accept that we have the second highest level of fuel poverty in the EU but (on an actual price basis) are amongst the three cheapest for combined gas and electricity, then how does that square with us having an average wage that is in the top 10 in the EU ? (I am aware that high earners skew the average a bit but every country has the same issue so is not really important).

Could it be that we just use more energy (on average) than most other countries or are the statistics wrong (not exactly unknown).

Personal opinion - the fuel poverty statistic is created by a fuel poverty group and is suspect, just as all statistics from special interest groups are.

What can he do? Simple, scrap HS2 and build a few government owned nuclear power plants. Then the government will have a bit of control of energy prices. If any party used this tiny bit of common sense I would vote for them

But without tosspot pink Ed it wouldn't have been 9-11% would it? Put your brain in gear next time:p.

Funny, I didn't see the Big 6 cite Ed as a reason for the rise. But Ed's policy has had the effect of making Dave have his MP's Big 6 Enquiry, make bills simpler (oh what joy) and make switching easier (now official Tory policy, so Dave says). Then we have Cleggy, who decides to say not a lot.

Oh dear. Have I stumbled on Fisher Price's My First Forum by mistake?

No, I'm only pointing out that you have chosen a deliberately misleading 'statistic'.

And your choice is absolutely correct I take it? What if the pound lost 10% against the Euro tomorrow or vice versa? What would this league table look like then? It's a nonsense stat, basically. And would it have any bearing on the price of fuel for us UK consumers or the consumers of fuel in Europe in real terms? Would it feel like our fuel prices had changed? Nope.

You simply cannot accurately compare the price of any commodity across countries and currencies. It's going to be wrong every time.

Ed Millbrand can do NOTHING about it.

Why? Because there is nothing much to be done.

    The best way for end consumers to cut energy bills or at best,mitigate rises in costs is to;
    a)Cut consumption
    2)Optimise what you do use
3)Make sure you are on the best tariff
    4)Ensure/Invest in insulation
5)Downsize to a smaller(more efficient) home if you dont need all the space you have
6)Wear clothing which is commensurate with season and temperature.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

And now he is responsible for energy companies whacking up their prices in case he gets in and freezes them for two years, cheers w*nker!

Hahahahhaa...if you believe Ed the Clown will freeze costs then Ive got a moon full of green cheese for you to buy! :rotfl:

The Climate Change Bill, championed by Ed, committed this country to spending hundreds of billions of pounds on the Great Green Con (tm) to help combat Mann Made Global Warming (tm) through generating electricity through the most expensive and least productive methods known to mankind, windmills, mirrors and ground unicorn horn which incidentally cannot produce electricity when its most needed, ie. when its cold and dark!!

But by all means, you just continue to blindly believe in everything Ed the Clown tells you. I believe he will also be sending you a unicorn for christmas too :rotfl:
