Well this trying to get to exchange lark is a nightmare...had call from my agent who had been checking that our buyer had been in and signed and paid for deposit. Agent tells me at 4.30pm that yes she has been in and signed but yesterday on her second viewing she saw some cracks in various walls of our house. At the time she did ask hubby about them. They were here when we bought the house 8 years ago (no worse) and we presume they are purely cosmetic as they are on walls that were re-plastered or skimmed (thats what previous owners told us). Since then we have had our survey, survy done by buyers that dropped out (not due to survey i add) and she herself has had survey with no mention of these crack....can only describe them as thin??!! So now she is thinking of getting an independent survey. So a bit annoyed as this is yet again holding us all up (now got the bank selling the repo house saying get a move on)...talking to my agent she said that she would have a word wiuth our buyer to see what she decides..well didnt hear back so sent email to sol and agent basically saying find out and find out fast. If she wants to have surveyor in then it has to be arranged in next few days. Just not sure if its a delaying tactic as yesterday she said it was moving fast and that she hadnt thought she would be moving until sept!!! Its been since the start of may but there is only two of us.
So do you think there is anything to worry about? Slowly going out of my mind here! Any views??? PLus wont this cost alot of money???

Just wondered if a structural enigneer would come out and look at the cracks only rather than do a big survey?
Do you think she is going over the top?
There are no cracks in the outside walls.0 -
This is quite common. From the survey on our new place:
We found no evidence of any significant structural movement.
There are however, a number of shrinkage cracks internally in the plaster finishes. These are not of a structural nature and only minor filling and decoration is needed.
Of course it could be that the issue is different on your house, and it is about to collapse into a pile of rubble. Do you have one of the previous surveys to hand with which to calm your buyer?Been away for a while.0 -
Unfortunately cant find our original one. The previous buyers that dropped out not sure who has that one but then again she has her own survey hasnt she! Just hoping that ours is the same as yours.0

You've had the house eight years and you never thought to rake out these cracks, fill them and paint over when you were decorating?
