I know what you are saying but at the end off the day a private landlord will sell so its never a secure tenancy .Like you I am a landlord .warmhands.coldheart wrote: »Probably NOT Intended and I'm not massively familiar with the NIHE, but please don't tar all "Private Landlords" with the same brush... As an "Accidental" Landlord myself, I do everything within my means to keep our tenants happy. never had a complaint yet.... and it's still my house so in my interest to keep it well maintained.... there are some good ones out there too......"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
True..... suppose I'm not used to the "Long Term Tenant" you would get in NIHE houses, Private Tenants in my experience don't stay "long" term, couple of years max!! nature of the market I suppose.... people renting while saving for their own house or the likes..I know what you are saying but at the end off the day a private landlord will sell so its never a secure tenancy .Like you I am a landlord .0 -
I met with a friend of mine who lives about the middle of the Ormeau Rd. We met in Walmer St and it looks fine so have not quite ruled it out yet.
I like the fact it's 10 mins to my work and there are plenty of shops about and it's handy for my wife to go into the City.
I have never actually been in Ormeau Park itself but I am sure it's nice enough.
I would be interested in seeing how big the inside of the houses are.0 -

I would say go visit/walk around the street and surrounding area on a number of times at different times of the day and week just to get a real feel for it. you could find it noisy during the day but not at night or Vice-Versa. visit during the week and at weekends. obviously don't rule anything out until you've check it over thoroughly.
everyone has different views on what they like. Personally I'd HATE to live in an apartment, others love it.... it's personal choice.....
Ormeau Park is lovely (apart from the irresponsible dog owners whop let their dogs off the leads all the time....but that my own little gripe) and has great play park facilities and open spaces.
Ormeau Road has good range of shops to cover day to day needs and some nice little cafes. very regular buses too being so close to city centre0 -
Some lovely houses and streets off ravenhill road. Sill0

Is it similar to the Ormeau road?
Really depends where.
Can you swap for a housing association one? Would it cost more?0 -

Here are a few for rent, might give you an idea of the room layouts etc. Beware the fisheye lenses though, agents are very fond of them!

There's less shops on rave hill, but it's easy enough to walk to ormeau, the traffic can be extremely bad during school runs as I believe there are 4 or 5 schools off ravenhill. Also if you need to rely on the bus service, it's roughly every 10 mins on ormeau road and every hour on ravenhill road.0
