No one seems to have mentioned the great lunches at the best shareholders meetings or the free carrier bags.
But ok, apart from those, most people will gain very little for the extra hassle of holding shares directly and would be as well with collective funds such as trackers, my preference being for ITs rather than UTs or OEICs.0 -

Because the directors and managers of the IT need to be paid (though perhaps not quite as much as they are IMO!) and this money comes from the assets of the IT causing a "drag" on NAV.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
