I second this idea!!! Bought 4 on Friday, and They've been nabbed by 2 DD's for the bedroom, hubby wants one for his mother and the other was for me lol.
DD's want to give their teacher's and assistants one each for Christmas so going in tomorrow to attempt to get more lol.
They're a big hit so think - if I can - I'll get a few extra's just in case lolPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

If grandma's anything like my MIL, she'll have everything she needs already & doesn't want anything! :snow_grin
I have always struggled with what to get her, something that she'll open & be genuinely pleased to have received.
A Little Story...
Over the years we have brought her everything from magazine subscriptions, candles, books, jigsaws, jigsaw roll, scarves, the usual ect but I never felt like she was grateful.
A few years ago I picked her out a Cath Kidston tote bag. I really thought that I had hit the jackpot with this idea as it was something I would have been over joyed to have unwrapped Christmas morning myself.
It was received with the same amount of emotion as if we'd just shoved a fiver in a card!
Fast forward to the March .... she gave it back to me! Saying that she had only used it to hold her swimming kit & as she was no longer going, thought it may come in handy for one of the children's swimming lessons
Needless to say, It has hung proudly on my dresser in the kitchen for the last few years.
Bearing this past experience in mind, we have for the last 2 Christmas' given her a piece of Emma Bridgewater & every few months I get to add said piece to the dresser :snow_laug:snow_laug:snow_laug
Anyway, back to a present for £5.
Me & the children are making her a 'Our year in photos' scrapbook.
Scrapbook & papers brought from poundland, just doubled up on the best photos from the last year when ordering from snapfish. Grand total of about £3.16 & I bet she bloody LOVES it :snow_grin:xmassign:0 -
I bought one of my Grandmothers last year a £5 pink 'leather-type' watch, that came from one of the stalls in our shopping centre. I declined the offer of a gift box for £1 to present it in and instead begged a friend who sells charms for a gauze bag. Would go with the items you already have.0

What about a photogift, like a mug or coaster with a family photo. Vistaprint are doing mugs for just over a fiver at the moment with a wraparound photo. I know Asda and Teso do them too.0

They are £5.99 here, but I picked some up today in a discount store for £2.95 each so if you shop around you might find some cheaper if you shop around...but even if you don't then £5.99 is pretty close to your budget if you have a bit of extra to spend on them.PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!0 -
Give them your time - pop round with a nice bit of cake or some biscuits, then you can have a nice cuppa & a chat.0
