Lost Cat, Help!

Hi

I need to some serious help as I am completely unsure of what to do next. My pet cat TC has been missing since last Wednesday night, she went out and just never came home that evening.

She has been known to stay out all night long sometimes and usually returns the next morning when I get up to go to work but she never did that morning and my bf never saw her all day either, we went out that night to look for her when I got home from work but could not see her at all.

We have gone out pretty much every night since to look for her within the immediate vicinity, we live in a cul de sac surrounded by a school with a large field, a doctor's surgery and a bunch of pensioner bungalows. Other than that's it's busy streets and she's extremely timid so I wouldn't have thought she'd have wandered onto the main high street but now I am unsure.

We have created posters and put a few around where we live, rang the Cat's Protection and registered her as missing and contacted our Vets and other vets in my home town there are only 2. I have also contacted the RSPCA and my friend has posted about our cat on facebook for us but no response as of yet.

I'm growing increasingly concerned that the longer she is missing the higher the chance she will not come back, so any things that I have missed that I could try I would appreciate so much.

Thanks Bell x

I hope you find her! When this happened to me we also put little leaflets through letterboxes while we were out looking. Just a nice note asking people to look out for her. You can fit 4 onto an A4 sheet and cut them up so it doesn't need to cost a fortune.
Also our local facebook sales pages (of which there are several) seem to do a great job of finding and returning lost pets, so I'd try and get some help there too.
Really sorry for you as I know how awful this is. Our cat turned up in our garden a week later alive and well. Pretty lucky considering she had been an indoor cat for a few years since being rescued, and had gone missing down the road while being loaded into the car for a trip to the vets. All the best x

Don't give up hope. Its happened to me twice. One time he was away a week and I found him in a nearby field when he answered my calls. Another time she went for a fortnight and just walked in bold as brass one day.

Keep going out often, calling and listening for reply mews. Easier in dark when its quieter.

Trail an old coat or material from the furthest points out, back home so he can follow the scent back home if necessary.

I guess you've asked neighbours to check their sheds & garages etc, in case he's locked in by mistake. Are any neighbours on holiday?

Have you considered putting your cat on the "Dog Lost" website ? I've noticed several on there just lately. The more info you get out there the better chance of finding her. Also get your neighbours to check and re-check sheds and lock-ups....my friends cat was found in her next door neighbours shed after more than a week of looking. It had gone for a sleep and got locked in. Luckily there was water to drink from a dripping tap. Good Luck..

Ask if you can put a poster up in the school, or attach them to the gates. Ask postmen to look out, and if you have paperboys in your area, ask them as well. Good luck.

Ask your neighbours if they've had any deliveries (supermarket or stuff for home). Maybe, just maybe, your cat managed to get on board.

Mine went missing for hours and hours not long after moving in. Not sure if she was off on a massive exporatory mission or if she was stuck at the back of my large corner wardrobe. I'm inclined to think the latter as I'm sure I could hear a faint miaow when I called her and she went in there the next day! Sometimes they're stuck in weird places, although you do usually hear them. One of my old cats had crawled into an open drawer and down the back then got stuck. Had to take the bloomin' thing apart to get to her!

    Is she very vocal usually?

Call from one place, stand still, really listen hard, and see if you can hear her rather than walking along calling her which is the tempting thing to do. (In house as well as outside.)

Check the Cats Protection page every day - ALL areas. And not just lost cats, but ones they're trying to rehome too.

    Is she microchipped?

Good luck. Fingers crossed for you.

    Jx
