That info down on the page in regards to EDF is correct

That MSE article clearly states "existing provider", you suggested switching to EDF and EDF say they will "carry out a credit check and decide whether the type of tariff and payment arrangements you have chosen are correct" they EDF go on to say "If there is a problem with your credit check, or the type of tariff or payment arrangements you have chosen, we will try to solve the problem with you if possible. If we cannot solve the problem, we will tell you and your contract will end automatically on that date"

However you may be correct, maybe they do not carry out credit checks, I'm only reading EDF's own terms I linked to earlier.

No mention of a deposit for a credit meter was mentioned by the supplier. I; offended by the fact that am I not being treated fairly. As I said in the post - the supplier will not remove a credit meter if I moved home with one already installed.

Thanks for the advice on EDF, i will look into that

I dont find credit checks discriminatory, I found the fact that I could move to a new home next month and if it had a standard meter they would set me up on that tariff without a check discriminatory. Because I am in the same home they "had" to run a check.

But if you ran up debts before, this is a big reason. Did they have togo for a warrant/
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • No they didnt have to go for a warrant.

We sort their help and they told us that the key meter was the best option and assured us that we could change back to a normal meter after the debt had been paid.

And so you can switch back. But you failed the credit check. No supplier is obliged to give you credit. That's not 'discrimination'-they still consider you to be a bad credit risk after examining your credit history.
