Hi my son is selling an xbox on Gumtree and has had a request for pictures of it from the back of the console including the power socket and serial number.
Any idea why?

You can see if the xbox is banned from the serial number there is a app called xval or i think you can ask microsoft.0

Oh, thanks.
I didn't send photos as I wasn't sure what they would be used for the Xbox was bought anyway.
Just one more thing.
My son sold it with his account still active, he always used a code to get xbox live, he doesn't use his email address.... are there any 'hidden dangers' that we haven't thought about.
thanks

Any credit/debit cards linked to the account ?
I wouldnt have sold it with the account still live but thats me.0 -
I would have removed all account details from it myself.
Probably best to contact MS and get it removed from that box ASAP.0 -

Hi, all xbox live was paid for by voucher.
I had linked an American Express card to the account, last Christmas, for a four square promotion. That credit card has been cancelled, a while ago, as amex wanted to put a fee on the card.
I know nothing about xbox and can't even navigate around the screen very well. I don't even know what other information the HD might hold.
I don't even know what details would be on the HD...

Dont know if they still do it but they used to give a refund for unspent months of Xbox Live. I called xbox support once and asked and was given x amount.xxdeebeexx wrote: »I had linked an American Express card to the account, last Christmas, for a four square promotion. Only details stored on the HD are:
payment details - been removed,
email address and password - you say not used0 -

I've got myself all worried now.....
It's my sons account using a random email address that he used just for his Microsoft account.
Would info such as D.O.B, address, telephone number be stored on the HD?

Dont believe so but could be wrong ( honestly cant remember ), if it isnt then all that info will be stored with hotmail (if its hotmail.)
You say he is selling it so not sold it yet correct ? find out if he (or who ever is the account holder for the gamertag, presume its your son) can get a refund for unused months of Live then format the hard drive.
Might even be able to change the info if you login to hotmail or whoever the email address is with and enter a fake name etc.0 -

Thanks - it has already gone. It was sold this morning.
I will ask him to try to log into his email account to change details.
Thanks
