Getting gas heating installed

Last December with moved from a 3 bed 1970's semi with a standard gravity feed gas central heating and hot water system to a 3 bed terraced 1600's thatched cottage.
Before we moved our gas & electricity was costing about £160/month from Eon.
We stayed with Eon who said our new house with economy 7 night storage heaters and an Emerson heater for hot water would be about £55/ month. I suggested that £160 was probably more realistic but they said they'd revenue it after 6 months or so.
About 2 months ago they contact me to say they were putting it up to £275/month!
I have looked into getting gas put into the house which will cost about £250. But I want a new combi boiler and about 6 radiators put in and spread the cost over 3 to 5 years.
I've contacted Eon & British gas who only want to talk about replacement boilers and charging me nearly £200 for green deal assessment. I've also asked two local gas fitters I know for quotes but neither has got back to me.
Where can a get a NEW gas central heating system from and spread cost at a reasonable price and APR?

Welcome to the forum.
The problem with plumbers at the moment is the building boom is giving them plenty of work; and they can pick and choose their jobs!
Are you sure you can get gas piped to the house for only £250? Many on MSE report much higher costs, even if a gas main is nearby.
Is your thatched cottage a listed building?
British gas are normally very expensive, especially to have a complete CH system fitted.0 -

Building boom?!? are we back in 2007?
250 sounds far far too cheep to have gas installed, I was quoted 2000 just to get it removed.
have you thought about a log burner? or checking that the storage heaters are using e7 rates? they can be hours out0 -
I should have said, yes the cottage is grade 2 listed. I got a quote from Western power to put gas into the building, it's usually about £750 but this price assumes they have to dig a trench across a from lawn or drive. The main pipe runs directly outside our front wall so no long trench is needed hence £250.
I'm an electrician and I also fit bathrooms & kitchens so I can confirm there is definitely no building trade boom around where I live!
I don't do gas but know people who do but still I can't get a price to supply and fit a combi-boiler. It would only need to feed 1 radiator initially as I could extended the pipes from here and fit the rest of the rads myself. But I want to spread the cost and no one seems interested. I though British Gas, Eon, etc would want to sell me a system so I can them buy gas I can then buy gas off them.0 -
Also - we've put in a log burner which is great but it doesn't heat the water and only really heats the room it's in.0

If you need to borrow to finance the CH install, then get a personal loan-they've never been cheaper.
Most independent GSR RGI's don't do credit! Any nationals offering credit will be charging you a lot more for a cheap boiler, and probably a slapdash install. No free lunch, and no free laptop
