Hi there,
I've only been living away from home for a couple of years and am still getting to grips with all these bills.

Hopefully you can make out it says 'account balance' and 'balance when billed'. Can someone please explain the difference to me between these in laymans terms? Do we owe the total of the two sums.
When I phoned the other day the 'account balance' was £50 than it is now, obviously our DD came off yesterday and this has changed it but why?
Thank you

Account Balance is the balance currently on your account.
Balance when billed is the balance that existed when the last bill was raised. In your case the bill was raised in May so several DD's have come off since and the account balance is now lower.0 -
You need to increase your DD to a realistic level. £600 pa is less than half of what it would typically cost to heat, hot water and power a home on E10.
Keep it at that level and you're likely to find yourself heavily in debt after the winter quarter, when you can expect to use up to 75% of your annual total. Are you submitting quarterly reads? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thank you so we don't owe the total of both amounts?
Macman unfortunately we just can't afford anymore - we won't be using the heating this year if we can help it.

I'm sorry I'm still really unsure in this - I'm aware I must sound like an idiot.
The balance was raised in May and we've paid our DD since then - surely that only covers our usage (if that) though and not the balance on the account?
I always thought we paid our £50 per month and every so often we'd get a bill to say you owe us X amount too - which seems to have happened but I can't understand why it's gone down ...
Sorry

You don't owe either amounts. You need to give them a meter reading.
In May you owed £413.63.
Since then you have made 5 payments of £50 = £250
£413.63 - £250 = 163.63.
But this amount does not cover any usage since May.
Hope this makes sense.0 -
So we will owe that plus the usage from May till next bill?
Great

Yes. Submit meter readings regularly to get accurate bills.tea_n_toast wrote: »So we will owe that plus the usage from May till next bill?
