Advice about capping off gas supply

Options
I've just moved into a new house. The previous owners removed their gas cooker and when I enquired about gas safety was told that the pipe is 'self-sealing'. I'm not intending to reinstall a gas cooker, am I right in thinking that the pipe should be capped (and should the previous owner have done this already to make it safe?)

Any advice appreciated.

any redundent pipe work must be capped off using an appropriate fitting i.e not plastic. the previos owners should have done this

    Hi

The bayonet type of cooker hose connection is self sealing .
If you are not intending to use it for a long time then it might be worth having it capped for peace of mind.
