My OH does drink tea too, so the coffee should last ages now.
OH had to get a tank of petrol for the car so went to Asda and also got my shopping. We were totally out of fruit so that was a big thing to stock up on. Is it me, or is fruit hideously expensive? Really could have done with going to Aldi instead as they have kiwis, satsumas and apples on the super six this week but then we'd have spent more petrol money.......
Pleased as we did have a toastie loaf in the freezer so got away without buying anymore bread.
I listened to the advice and have chicken stock in production in the slow cooker. Tea was lovely, I cooked the chicken covered in a smoked paprika, garlic and melted butter concoction and then cooked the roasties in the juices (naughty for the waistline or what!!), then served with watercress, spinach, red onions, cherry tomatoes and coleslaw. It was a 1.2kg chicken so I went easy on the chicken I had so there is plenty for the risotto tomorrow.

Yogurt - Easiyo - I use the Easiyo pot to make ours, it's a great insulator, but I don't use the mixes any more! Far too expensive. Use a centimetre of good live yogurt at the bottom of the inner pot, pour on cooled scalded milk, fill the outer pot to the "fill" line with boiling water, pop the inner pot in, lid on & leave overnight. I found you could usually "chain" the culture 4 or 5 times before it got too sour, so that meant buying yogurt once, then making HM from the end of the bought pot, then using the end of the resulting pot for the next one etc. etc. and only having to buy it once in 5 litres, basically.Angie - GC Sept 25: £405.15/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Thanks Butterfly, that can be my task for next week
Not spent any more money yet. Made risotto, with the home made stock. Was the nicest I have ever made, so really pleased about that.
Currently have a big batch of tomato sauce cooking. I make this one:
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/339605/tomato-sauce
mainly because it is a) very easy and b) contains lots of hidden veg for my daughter.
Last pack of sausages are defrosting from the freezer, so when the tomato sauce is done. Will use some of that with a can of butter beans and the sausages to make a sausage and bean casserole.
We can just have tomato sauce and pasta with a sprinkle of cheese tomorrow or left overs, depending on what we feel like.
So glad I asked this question, have had so many good tips. Hopefully our money will be able to stretch out into lots of supplies for next month too0 -
