A properly operating 'stat will ensure optimal warm up. Since the stat is closed until a pre-determined temp is reached how will this help?
diesels take ages to warm up even longer in winter so no heat untill it warmed up
  • Most fuel economic way is to not have the heater on at all until the engine is up to temperature. I also prefer it, I'd rather have a couple of minutes of no heat followed by some serious warmth, than twice the time of lukewarm.
