Keeping pumpkin seeds?

We were given a pumpkin after my friends wedding. I cooked it yesterday but kept the seeds. Are they likely to be fertile? How do I prep them to store until planting? Currently I've got a couple dozen laid out on kitchen towel to dry off any remaining bits of flesh.

We roast ours with a bit of oil and chilli powder ! Delicious. Never tried growing them though.

They are likely to be very fertile, but unless they were grown a mile or so away from all other members of the squash family, you may well get hybrids which aren't pumpkins.

Just dry them in a warm place first, then put in an envelope and store in a margarine tub, or similar, in the fridge.

Thanks Davesnave. I assume they came from a pumpkin farm as they bought loads for wedding props. Meaning they are fairly likely to grow into pumpkins next year but one season in my garden surrounded by other keen home growers and who knows what I will get :rotfl Oh well, all part of the fun!
