NCD from a company car

I was made redundant last year and was able to keep my company car for 3 months - during that time I had to buy myself a car and insure it, my new job didnt give me a company car - so had to buy something.
I did this and found I couldn't use my company car "NCD" as I still had the car.
So I insured my car without any NCD - OUCH!!!! so once my company car went back I got a letter to say I was claim free and so have renewed my policy with another company this year and they will not accept my company car letter as its got a gap! Well it will do! I had to buy my car before I gave the company car back so I had transportation for my new job.
The new insurance company are now refusing to honour my company car letter (which means my insurance doubles!! ) What a rip off! catch-22
Its really annoying, I have just called their customer helpline complaining as it is unfair! Any excuse to charge you more. They have now agreed to possibly honour the letter if I send it in again ! IE they have lost the original one sent to them! another technicality building up for later.
If they dont accept the letter again - they cancel my insurance!! That's great service causing more issues when you try to get another one. There isnt much time before my current insurance lapses and the new company are dragging their feet.
Just not on - why do we always have to fight for everything!

Can't really help you with your specific issues but here is my story. Back in 2002 I took VR and kept my company car for 3 months including taking it abroad. I then had a month without a car whilst waiting for the new (at that time) 52 plate to come out. I bought a Toyota and used Toyota insurance. I can't remember exactly how but I got the ex-company to inform the insurance company of my driving history and was given several years NCD.0

You always have to explain gaps in your NCD (even when it's a normal NCD, earned by buying policies yourself).
Write with another copy of the letter and explain that since issued you have been driving claim free.0
