iPad2 - USB

Hi All
My mum has an iPad2 and therefore no way of connecting other devices e.g. her camera or a printer through USB.
Is it possible to buy a USB converter for the iPad?
If so, are there any things I need to take into account when choosing one?

You can get printers compatible with the iPad (look for Airprint in their specs), or Airprint adaptors for some printers.
Why do you want to connect the camera to the iPad?0 -
I don't know if the iThing series support USBOTG ('On The Go'), it is possible with some android and other devices but it's not a neat solution, requiring special cables, etc.0

Get a sd card adapter for the ipad2 for a fiver, however she really doesn't want to be filling it up with photos unless she is only using it to move them to the cloud, eg Flickr.
I assume she has wifi - an AirPrint printer will be wifi (mine works very well including scanning to the iPad app too)0 -
Thanks, all.
I'm not overly familiar with what iPads can do, but at present the only way (as far as I am aware) for her to get her camera photos to me is for her to print them (she takes the camera card to Boots and prints them out there) and then post them to me. She can't email them to me because she can't get them onto the iPad.
She is not very techie, so between us I'm a bit in the dark here.
She has Wi-Fi on the iPad, yes. It may be that she has a compatible printer already - I need to double check this aspect out with her.
I'll google for sd card adapters.0 -
What does she have, gear-wise, apart from the iPad, Printer and Camera?
If she gets a whole raft of photos on the Pad, she'll have to e-mail them one at a time, which will be tedious in the extreme.0 -

I think that's about it. She's not at all techie, as I said.
She can take photos using the iPad and email them immediately.
But I'm not aware of a way she can get her camera photos to me electronically. There may not be many of them, but we have overseas family who visit occasionally and I'd like to have an electronic record of some of the photos she took as well as her personal selection of a couple which she prints out.
There is also the issue of back-ups. At present the only record of the photos is on the camera memory card (SD Micro) and those few she chose to print out for herself.
If there was a USB converter I guess she would be able to save the photos from the camera to the iPad, thence to a memory stick for me or for her own backup (or even then onto a CD / DVD for backup)?0 -
She can certainly use the camera connection kit to connect the camera to the Ipad. There's official ones and non-official ones, when I looked into them the non-official ones could be a little unreliable so I decided to go for the official one as I was buying it for a relative. It sounds like that's not the case anymore so if the unofficial ones work fine, they're substantially cheaper.
You could save the pictures for her and she'd also have the option of backing up the pictures online once she'd be able to transfer them to the Ipad.

Get an SD card with built-in wi-fi? Could send them straight from the camera to cloud services.0
