Wooden Gate damaged by the wind

My Wooden gate was damaged by the wind.

Is this a job for a hand man?

If not, who should I hire for the job?

There is damage and damage. It could be knackered but might just need the hinges re-set. I would start with a handyman.

Yes, I'd definately employ a man with hands.........:D

On a more helpful note, unless it is a particularly elaborate or unusual design, then any decent handyman should have the tools and knowledge to fix it, and should be a lot cheaper than a carpenter or joiner.

As mentioned, virtually any handy man is likely to be able to repair a garden gate, unless it's of a really unusual design, or massively damaged (in which case a new one would often be cheaper than a repair).

What's actually broken on it, as you may be able to fix it yourself easily, especially if it's a traditional gate design as they tend to be really basic (it could be the sort of thing where you can fix it for the cost of a couple of basic tools and a couple of hours at the library looking at DIY/woodworking books if needed)..

I brought in a handy man who managed to repair it, but note that the woods are decaying and I may need to replace the gates soon or in the future.

He said I should go for iron gates instead of wood which is much stronger and cheaper to maintain.

What should I get? Iron or wooden gate?

Small gates not needed for security I would probably go for wood. Big gates and/or gates for security then metal.
