  • Good morning everyone :)

Damp and dismal again and I need to get some washing done so the dreaded tumble drier will be in action.

Managed to get loads of stuff to the charity shop, Marie Curie this week, yesterday but never got to the tip, so that is on the job list for later. The hall is currently blocked with a huge metal frame for an exercise ball (don't ask!) which will be destined for the tip later, together with a pile of other stuff. The recycling bin men came yesterday but not the ordinary bins and our bin is chockablocka, so I hope they come today.

Not sure what else we are doing, I want to start clearing the loft so hope I can inspire DH to join in as there is a lot of heavy book boxes up there. These are the ones he brought home when he changed office at work, then never took any back again, claiming he now has no room. Well we don't have room either!

Been off the low carb all week so need to get back on the wagon next week. Must make a freezer inventory and meal plan for the week later today, am pretty sure we have chicken thighs and various minces in the freezer so should not need any meat for next week. Budget is looking tight due to roof repair costs but looking at the weather, am not convinced it will get done next week anyway.

Hester - I think our neighbour has one of those light/heaters and he doesn't grow tomatoes :rotfl:

JackieO - it's lovely to see you back posting :)

Judi - I used an ultraviolet dye on my hair once, I loved it. In fact I may get another one today! Go for it :j

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Well wishes for all sick

  • Good morning all.

Dull & overcast here. Hope the weather stays dry as dh taking dd & ds1 to firework display tonight.

I need to Hoover my bedroom today. Won't bother with the kids rooms till they are back at school.

Need to do a menu plan today for the next week or so.

Also need to finalise the Christmas list. Going to try & be more organised with the stockings this year. The older 2 want expensive items so I've have been drumming it into them they they won't get much else, just their annuals & sweets. Hard to buy for ds 2 as he's just obsessed with watching minecraft on you tube on the iPad.

Not buying for adults this year either so "just" 7 nieces & 2 nephews to buy for. No idea what to buy them. Have sorted one of my nieces as saw some Minnie Mouse stuff in home bargains a few weeks ago. Hardest to buy for is 14 year old nephew.

Right, must finish this coffee & get dressed.

    Love (((hugs))) & spoons xxx
  • Mrs MH, re 14 year old, cash, lol, our 15 year old DGS gets cash for christmas & B'dys.
I'm keeping all my Yule spending close to home, if I can't make things I'm buying them either from local people or someone on here, I've ordered some hand made soap from an MSE'r & will be looking round to see what else people sell.

  • Good Morning all, bright but a bit chilly here in Kent.I have a pile of ironing to do this morning plus I want to make some leek and potato soup and a Victoria sponge cake for the boys for tomorrow. As I have been looking after them all this week I have had no time for baking at all,so thier cake tins are looking a bit bare.DGS Jack asked yesterday if perhaps I may be making a cake this weekend bless him.His favorite is a plain Victoria with just jam inside no cream and a sprinkle of sugar on top :) so I can soon knock one up for him .
No shopping to get at all as I did an inventory of my cupboards and they seem to be more than full enough for awhile so I am hanging on to my cash this month :):)just over 7 weeks until Christmas and I have a few bits and pieces already but I also have 6 family birthdays before then so its going to be a streeeetch it out month I think :):)
Have a good weekend what ever you are doing
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

Just back to let of some steam.... Knock at door. While I've been away they have dug up the top part of the street. No idea why. Anyway work guy tells me I need to ove my car and points at a red one. I tell him politely that i'ts not mine. He then tells me he came to all the houses and told them not to park at the top of the street. I tell him again that fine but that the car is not mine so I can't move it and that he's not told me about the road works as I was away. He then starts telling me to move the car. For the third time I tell him it's not mine. He went away mumbling some thing about not his fault if he damages it then because he did warn me!

I am going out in a mo and am going to deliberately shout this is my car here ahi get in it so I can be childish!
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Ruby - I know it is not at all in the same league - but i can understand why you get great comfort from your dad being home - I feel the same way about my dog's ashes. Hugs xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Ruby - half my dad's ashes have been in my mum's bedroom (in his side of the wardrobe!) for the past 11 years since he died.
The other half were taken to Kent with his 2 sisters after his funeral, and then when my mum visited a couple of weeks later they scattered them around the same tree that my nan and grandad are scattered. A lot of my family who couldn't make it up north for his funeral attended that.
As for the ashes my mum still has, we simply haven't thought of the perfect place to scatter or bury them, and until that happens we want to keep him close. My mum still has my gran's ashes too, and she died 15 years ago.
Neither of the urns are out on display, but my mum knows they are there, and I know they are there and there is a lot of comfort just knowing there is a little part of both of them close by.
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j

  • Hi all! :hello:

I'm cold, sore and grumpy today, sending the boyfriend off to the shop for a bottle of Purdeys for an energy kick. :D

Got so much I need to do but I can't find the energy to do any of it, which is the story of my life. I have a muscle condition thingi so I'm sore and exhausted all the time. I've got really good at making 'to do' lists though :p

I can't decide if I want to cook from scratch tonight, or just bung in the bargain pizza I picked up the other day. What do we think? Lazy dinner or proper cooking?
