Either way, nigelbb's photos should help the OP's case at POPLA stage!

Guysdad you are right. I should have said that there are no signs to explain that two companies operate in the same car park. The existing signs are useless. I also meant that the bays are not separated, marked or colour coded instead of non-existent.

Its not just me either, there were four other cars with charge notices for the same reason on the day. It seems to be a frequent occurrence.

I complained to the council as I had paid in their machine. The response was that the area is adequately signed. They have a policy of waiving the first offence, so seem to be admitting there is a problem. I have asked for confirmation that the area meets BPA standards.

My PCCN has been cancelled so it does not need to go to popla, I complained to the centre MK who arranged this with NCP. Big thanks to this forum and nigelbb for the advice.

That's good news, but let me get this straight for future reference.

You got a ticket from NCP who run a private car park because you paid in the Council ticket machine covering their area.

By appealing to the council, they settled the problem and got NCP to cancel your ticket. And NCP have confirmed this?

If I have got this right, then as I live in MK I might be able to help the odd person who gets ticketed by NCP.
  • No, sorry again.

I complained to both the council and the centre mk as I hold them jointly responsible for the confusing set up.

The complaint to the centre resulted in NCP cancelling the charge.

The council informed me that the signage was adequate but they will cancel a first 'offence' to motorists parked in their area as a gesture of good will.

I will add this thread to the 'Successful Complaints about PPCs' sticky thread as it was the complaint to Centre MK that did it! A good example for others to follow.

  • Hi Guys,

I think I was one of those other people that received a parking charge on the same day as Jimmy76 in Milton Keynes! I appealed it before I saw this thread and I'm unsure of what to do next. Should I email the Centre MK? I don't know the area that well and I'm not sure of the name of the car park/ road.

Any help or advice would be amazing!

Your ticket should specify the area. See OP for name of area or look at CMK parking map. The centre has 2 main parks a John Lewis and off Secklow gate.
  • Under location it says Milton Keynes 2. It was across the road from Next.
  • Hi Laura,

Thats the same car park. Definitely send complaints to the both the adresses above and ask the relevant landowner to get the charge cancelled.

    Good luck!

If you can't get it cancelled by complaining, then hopefully everything you need to know about the appeals process is now here:
